Remembrances at the Wall

Springfield Hilton Hotel

Springfield, Va.

This year’s reunion will be held in the Washington D.C. area and will include a trip to the Vietnam Memorial and a short ceremony honoring our brothers whose names are enshrined there.

A block of rooms is currently available at the Springfield Hilton our base of operations for the reunion. Listed below is the information needed to register at the hotel. The sooner we use up the block of rooms available the sooner they will release additional rooms for our use. The Hilton provides free shuttle service to the Metra station 3 blocks away and also provides a shuttle to the Springfield Mall and various restaurants in the area. They also provide free parking for guests. We have negotiated special rates for the reunion period. Rooms both king and two double beds have rates of $99.00 per night Thursday thru Sunday night. If you want to get in early rates are $157.00 for Monday thru Wednesday nights. For us to get credit for the rooms you must make your reservations thru the hotel and use our group code of 4THS12. The hotel is also offering us discounts on breakfasts served in their restaurant; coupons may be purchased at the registration desk giving you a $5.00 discount on their breakfast fare. The hotel is also providing us with a hospitality room free of charge. If you use an online service we will not get credit for the room reservations and we might lose some of the discounts and freebies the hotel is providing to our reunion.

Reservations Can be made: By calling the hotel 1-703-971-8900 or by calling Hilton Hotels 1-800-717-3691

Reservations can also be made on line at www.springfieldva.hilton.com click on check availability for the dates of your stay, then enter the group code of 4THS12 in the group/convention code field.

We can also make reservations using our groups personalized group web page. Enter this link, for access to that site.

http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/groups/personalized/S/SPRSHHF-4THS12-20121003/index.jhtml?WT.mc_id=POG

The cutoff date for attendees to make reservations at this group rate is 9/17/2012.

We also are committed to 40 people for the ladies event so we hope that all of the ladies can attend. There is a place on the registration form for members of the Sisterhood to check allowing us to know the number of ladies participating. Nancy Curnell, Elda Lang and Linda Eaton will be working up the details for this event.

Also this year there is a change in the procedure for our group photographs. The photographer has given us a price schedule based on the sale of 75 photographs. The pricing will be $10.00 for 5x7 platoon photos and $20.00 for 8x10 group photos of the Troop and the Sisterhood. These photos will be available for pick up in the hospitality suite on Sunday morning. I have placed a photo listing on the registration form so you can ID the photos you would desire. And you can pay it directly with your registration fee. We will pay ½ of the money up front to hold the reunion date and the other half on delivery of the photos.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Keith Eaton. Phone Number 614-888-8848 or by e-mail (keaton47@ameritech.net )

Reunion Opportunity to tour the White House!

Hello Everyone,

Joyce Patrick ( Dennis Patrick 3rd Platoon) of the Sisterhood has offered to coordinate a White House tour for those Troopers and their families that might want to participate. She has contacted Ileana Ros-Lehtinen ( Dexter Lehtinen 2nd Platoon) whose office has offered to act as a liaison with the White House.

For someone to be accepted for a tour of the White House the must undergo a security and background check. For the White House to perform this check they require everyone to provide the following information.

1.) Last Name, First Name, and Middle Name

2.) Date of Birth

3.) Social Security Number

Joyce has offered to collect this information and forward it to Washington for the reunion committee. Joyce can be reached via e-mail at ( wp9251@aol.com ). Joyce needs to have all information collected and to Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's office no later than 30 days prior to the October 5th visit.

Thanks, Keith Eaton , Reunion Committee
