NOTES FROM 2009 REUNION

9TH REUNION NIAGARA FALLS

This year's reunion was a little larger than last year (97 attendees), the Cav Sisters meeting was well attended; the ladies had a cheese social instead of a luncheon. Thus allowing for conversation among the ladies; from what I hear the main topic was about their husbands but I could not get any more details.

At the Business Meeting the Troop Memorial Project update was presented by John Sharpe. Bob Schlitzberger sent a draft of what the plaque would like and once it is completed; Bob will proceed with placing the memorial in the Armor Museum Park at Fort Knox.

The Troop acknowledges Cpt. Smith for his challenge and money donated at the past reunion.

Keith Eaton will be taking over the Quartermaster duties; the Troop extended a big thank your to Terri McPhee for all of the hard work she had put in as Quartermaster.

JT sent Keith Eaton another one of his special stickers to add to the items for sale in the Cav Store (go to the Troop website and check it out).

The Troop was honored to have a special guest attend this year’s reunion Kayla Ryan sister of Billy Ryan (one of our KIA); Nancy and Warren Swinford were her host; Warren and Billy were very close friends and have stay in touch with Kayla over the years.

Reunion 2009 location near Niagara Falls allow for the opportunity to visit the surrounding areas; a trip across to Canada was high on the list, guided tours of the falls, and other sites were often the topic of discussion.

Dennis Perrino had another great Italian Night Out; this is fast becoming a Troop tradition.

Jim Davis presented Music CDs (Music from The Nam 68-71) to all Troopers at the Reunion; who would have thought that Jim was DJ in his past life.

Once again, the raffle was a great success – thanks to the individuals who donated items and for the individuals who purchase the raffle tickets (One guest purchase $100 worth of tickets).

1st Platoon's Jim Rinaldi was awarded the “Frank Canda” award, a well deserved award. Keith will publish Ken Dye’s presentation speech for Jim in the next newsletter.

Reunion 2010

2nd Platoon plans to hold the 2010 Reunion in Las Vegas at the Gold Coast and have the Troop march as a unit in the Veteran’s Parade.

Jim and Ken put together another great reunion, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK.
