Matthieu 24 April 2003

Matt Matthieu had a minor heart attack Tuesday, April 22, 2003. His wife Patsy took him to the Veterans ER who checked him out and transferred him to Phoenix Hospital. On Wednesday he had triple bi- pass surgery and was recovering quite well with a fine prognosis. On Thursday night about 6:30 PM (she's not sure exactly what went wrong with his heart but it went bad). They worked over an hour to get him back but weren't able to. Marshall Peter "Matt" Matthieu died about 7:30 PM , Thursday April 24th, 2003. (69 - 70, 3rd platoon, track 49- among others)

Matt is survived by his wife, Patsy.

Skee,
Sorry to here about Matt. Gives you a cold feeling each time a fellow trooper dies. It still doesn't seem that long ago that we were all together. I got to know him when I rode with you and Matt on the Motar track for a few weeks. Great guy.
GOD CALLED ANOTHER TROOPER TO COME HOME.
He will be missed.

Hey guys,
I've been busy and not been on the net for a few days, this new is specially sad.... Matt and I arrived at Nancy on the same-duece-and-a half, he was assigned to the 3rd, me to the first.Ê It was a blast seeing again in Vegas, I am really sad he is gone......this makes the Reunion that much more meaningful, I am so glad I got to see him again, he was sure happy to see all of us again.
Take care
Wally

I have fond memories of Matt from Nam and the reunion last year. He was a car guy. I'll miss him.

I only met Matt at last year's reunion. Actually, I met him twice there. The first time he was walking down the hotel hallway towards the banquet room with Jim Good and I introduced myself. The second time was in the chow line at the dinner where he was in front of me. Although I never forget a face I'm really shitty at remembering names, so I introduced myself again.
Don't worry Matt, when I see you at Fiddler's Green I'll remember your name an give you smile and a Cav greeting. Save a cold beer for me.
Rest In Peace.

Sad news. And another reminder that we will none of us go on forever.
I'm glad we got to see Matt again before he left.

I have been setting here for the past few hours trying find away to express into words the departing of Matt to Fiddlers Green. Although I only meet Matt at the reunion last year and like other troopers I have meet at the reunion I felt that I have known them. I know that Matt will keep the beer cold and the fire lit to guide the rest of us when it is our turn to depart for Fiddlers Green. May you rest in peace and may God bestow his blessings upon you Matt.
Long Live the Cav and its Brotherhood.

My condolences to Matts wife and family, for a fallen friend, may he rest in heaven, as he has done his time in hell, and came back with honors to be with us one last time before he moved on to secure the gates of heaven while waiting on our arrival to be with him again someday at our final rendezvous point together.

Matt was a good guy who always seemed to love life. We'll all see his great smile again when he welcomes us at Fiddler's Green. He's exactly the reason we need the reunion. Please, call someone who is not on the net and personally invite them to Vegas. Life's too short not to.
