I went to Louisville and visited with Don for a couple of hours. He's resting a lot more comfortably and understandably glad he was home. The hospice nurses visited and were making him as comfortable as possible. Not really much of a change from Sunday when Keith visited him. We talked about some of the more humorous things that we went through, like the time the 1/77th Csm threatened to send Top, Don and I to jail if we were running an illegal club. I also relayed the prayers from you all to him and that cheered him up. So that's about it for now. I'll definitely give you updates as I get them. Joe

Not to worry RAG, remember Don worked at the world famous B&B Lounge. I'm sure that he'll have things ready for the rest of us. I imagine Top has remodeled all of the shitters. So it'll be first class by the time we get there. I feel the same way,it seems more often than not we hear of a Brother in trouble. Joe

Joe,

Thanks for the update Brother. Don is in our prayers and hopefully he won't have to suffer. Tell him to setup a club in Fiddler's Green and save me a cold beer. I wish this would stop happening so often as a little piece of me dies with each Brother Trooper that passes. Get to the Reunions guys cause life is way to short.

Peace, Rag

I just received a call from Don's son that Don passed away last nite. Bill said he did not suffer and the family was with him.  He is currently making the final arrangements and will let me know all of the details, which I will forward as soon as I get them.  I am so proud to have known Don as a soldier and a friend. Joe

Sitrep: Last Two Days

Hello Everyone,    Just got home from Radcliff Va. Joe Byrne and I met up in E-Town and went as a team to the visitation and services for Brother Don. Don's wife Su and his son Bill were very glad that we came. We met many of Don's fellow church members and retirees and they all made Joe and I feel welcome.    Sunday Night we spent at the funeral home chatting with family and friends then we stated a new Cav tradition we went to a Bar and hoisted a couple of drinks in Dons honor. This morning we went to the funeral service and grave side service before heading home. This week has made Joe and I more aware than ever that we need to be more attentive to our brothers who are suffering. And the feeling that it gives just to take the time to talk to them and let them know that we still care. George, I will attempt to scan the Obit and the card from the funeral and get them to you for the Fiddlers Green site.   Take Care, Keith
