I just got off the phone with Grace Sjolund, Dan’s wife, Dan passed away Saturday February 12th peacefully in his sleep. His cancer was in remission for four years, but reoccurred three months ago. She said he always remembered his Cav Brothers and wanted us to know.

I remember Dan from Nam. Although he wasn’t in the 2nd platoon. He had just turned eighteen and looked fourteen. He came to two reunions, but wasn’t in good health at either, but had a terrific spirit.

Damn. That is too bad.

Dan Sjoland is one of those guys you never forget. He was a real character
who loved life.

When I arrived in Vietnam, he was home on leave, having extended his tour.
The story about his leave, his R&R to Australia, and related matters is one
of those knee slapping tales that people never forget.

After A 4/12 he went down south as a door gunner, where I think he was with
the 11th ACR. Seems like he said he was with the 11th ACR when they went
into Cambodia late in the spring of 1970.

Keep the women and children out of Fiddler's Green. I know that Dan is
raising hell there today.

So long old friend. Rest ye well.

John I believe that he was Don Bunches driver in the 3rd platoon

Really Sad we lost another Brother. I remember Dan also I guess mainly
because he looked so young when we were in Nam.
