Delbert Hayes Powell, 72 of Nortonville, passed away Sunday March 29, 2015 at his home. He was born in Allegre, KY on January 7, 1943 to the late Hayes Critendon and the late Floyd (Kirkman) Powell. He served during the Vietnam War in the Army from 1962 to 1970. Delbert was a member of Nortonville First Christian Church. He was also a member of V.F.W. and N.H. Shaw Lodge #608. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley West Powell and brother Elbert Powell. He is survived by two sisters, Betty Wilson of TX and Elizabeth Richards of TN; caretakers, Vince (Aggie) West of Nortonville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Bandy Funeral Home, Nortonville with Bro. Dan Saunders officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 p.m. and after 12 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Nortonville with military honors being performed by the Hopkins Co. Honor Guard. Honorary pall bearer will be Geary Woodruff.
