Victor B. Locke, Jr., age 51, passed away Sunday, December 12, 1999 at the Hospice Care Center in Mesa , a victim of lung cancer from the effects of Agent Orange. He was born July 15, 1948 in Dalhart , Texas to Victor and Thelma Locke of Boise City , Oklahoma . He attended grade school in Boise City and high school in Liberal, Kansas before joining the Army where he served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Panama .

Survivors include two sons, Jim Bob of Memphis , TN and Joey of Tyrone, OK; one daughter, Andrea, of Tyrone , OK ; four brothers, Alvin Reynolds and wife Karen of Las Vegas, NV, Jay Locke and wife Gaye of Glendale, AZ, Randy Locke and wife Susan of Tempe, AZ, and Mike Locke and wife Mary of Plainville , IL ; three sisters, Vicki Francis and husband Bill of Bridgeport, TX, Jeannie Pierce of Roswell , OK and Pam Overley and husband Tom of Tempe, AZ; five nephews and eight nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter. Graveside services were held December 16 at the Veterans Cemetery in Cove Creek,

Arizona with military honors. His friend and Cavalry Platoon Leader from Vietnam, Colonel Al Bergstrom, was in attendance from the Naval War College, Newport , Rhode Island .

The entire family mourns the loss of Victor. His kind and generous spirit was apparent to all who were touched by his "heart of gold." As the proverbial "Sarge," he looked after us all! We will miss him.
